The term "sling bag" could refer to many things, but for our purposes the term refers to a bag designed much like a backpack but with a single strap that is worn over one shoulder. Style "435-436" can be both:

The main design goal is to provide faster, more convenient access to bag contents than a regular backpack with better load distribution than a shoulder bag.

Style "435-436" is also a duffel bag. Generally a duffel bag is a large cylindrical bag with a top closure using a drawstring. The bag is used for travel, sports and recreation, hunting, and business. The name comes from Duffel a town in Flanders, Belgium and originated in the 17th century. Although duffel bags have changed over the years, there is still a large central cylindrical chamber for carrying numerous objects.
